NHL trade rumors for March 8, 2022 feature the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to trade for a goalie.

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to be talked about in the NHL trade rumor mill. There have been rumors that the Leafs have interest in one of J.T. Miller, Ben Chiarot, Jakob Chychrun or John Klingberg.

Recently all the NHL Analysts have been talking on the TV, making radio hits that the Leafs need goaltending help if they want to make a Stanley Cup run. Right now, they do not have a goalie that can make that timely save.

The latest NHL Analyst to give his opinion on why Toronto needs a goalie is Frank Seravalli. He was on Sportsnet Radio 590 and stated that GM Kyle Dubas’ #1 priority should be to trade for a goalie at the NHL trade deadline.

Seravalli went on to say, you can talk about defence, you can talk about potentially adding a winger, I just don’t know how Toronto can’t address the goaltending issue in a significant way.

If the Maple Leafs continue to win or lose games 5-4, and not get the saves they need over the next week or so, you have to believe Dubas will look at a goalie. The question is, do they have the salary cap space or assets to trade for Marc-Andre Fleury or Semyon Varlamov? Would a team want Petr Mrazek or Jack Campbell as part of a package in return? Stay tuned.
