Since the start of December NHL rumors have circulated that Ben Chiarot would be traded. The asking price has always been a first round pick. With Chiarot getting injured recently, it is believed the Montreal Canadiens will make a Ben Chiarot trade when he comes of injured reserve next week.
Darren Dreger was on TSN’s Insider Trading and reports the St. Louis Blues are heavily interested in Ben Chiarot. They will be the team looking to make the Chiarot trade.
Dreger went on to say, beyond that I look at the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers. Montreal’s going to get a good amount in return for Ben Chiarot. As I said, a first round draft pick and maybe a prospect as well.
Chiarot does own a 10-team no trade list and the ability to influence a deal with his interest in an extension. If no team is willing to give an extension on a deal and with the amount of teams interested, the Habs are looking at getting a first round pick, plus additional assets in a trade.
