The Philadelphia Flyers have had an awful, underperforming season and will be looking to offload some assets. NHL rumors have already circulated that Claude Giroux and Ivan Provorov are on the trade block but the player getting the most attention is Rasmus Ristolainen.
Ristolainen, 27, is in the final year of a six-year contract with an AAV of $5.4 million and does not own a no-trade clause. He has two goals and eight assists in 39 games this season.
Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period reports there has been tires kicking on Ristolainen from other teams but the Flyers have not yet put him on the market.
Di Marco went on to say Ristolainen’s new contract will likely come in somewhere in the four-to-six year range with an AAV in the ballpark of $5 million to $6 million and do the Flyers want to commit to that salary and term? If it is a no, he will be traded at the NHL trade deadline.
Three teams that will have interest in a Ristolainen trade are the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and LA Kings.
