NHL trade rumors for January 31, 2022 feature the Toronto Maple Leafs interested in making a trade for Canucks forward J.T. Miller.

NHL trade rumors have been circulating for a while now about a J.T. Miller trade. The Minnesota Wild inquired about Miller two months ago and the New York Rangers have shown interest in Miller recently.

Pierre LeBrun was on TSN’s Insider Trading and reports if teams want to make a trade for Miller it is best they get their offers in sooner rather than at the NHL trade deadline.

LeBrun went on to say, the Vancouver Canucks are currently listening to trade offers that could land them at least three assets for the future and the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the teams interested in Miller.

What type of package could it take for the Leafs to make a Miller trade and fit in his salary cap hit. To shed some salary, Alex Kerfoot would have to be part of the package. The young assets the Leafs could offer up are Nick Robertson and Rodion Amirov.

The Leafs might have to make a secondary trade to reduce some more salary to fit in a Miller trade and Travis Dermott or Justin Holl might have to be moved out.

The Leafs are not the only team interested in Miller. The Rangers have serious interest and NHL rumors have the team offering up Alexis Lafreniere straight up.

  1. The Leafs would have to give up prospects like Mikhail Abmarov, Nick Robertson and a pick which the don’t have. Miller on the Leafs would not work and if Dubas was smart he would keep the Matthews, Bunting and Marner line together.

  2. The Bruins have the perfect RHD for the Canucks in Brandon Carlo.Even though the Boston faithfull would not like this, the Bruins desperately need a center to replace 37 someday.Carlo obviously would have to be packaged with someone but I think he is the one young Bruin who could be attractive to other teams. He has a very good long term contract that comes with him.Include Debrusk with him and anyone else to get a serious trade done.Bruins need to stop renting at the deadline and make a significant trade.

  3. Lol… Try harder. Why would the Canucks trade a number 1 center for a couple of maybe NHL prospects and a salary dump?

Really the leafs have nothing of interest for the Canucks. We need a RHD and the only one you have is Liljegrin and he’s not even good.

Canucks will get a better package from other teams.
