NHL trade rumors are floating around that the Calgary Flames will look to go all-in this year as the future is not looking so bright.
It is very possible that Johnny Gaudreau will not re-sign with the Flames this coming offseason and depart for the Philadelphia Flyers or another team.
Steve Macfarlane of Calgary Hockey Now reports Matthew Tkachuk will be a restricted free agent who will sign his $9-million qualifying offer this summer and spend one last season as a member of the Calgary Flames before also choosing his next destination as a UFA. (Could Tkachuk join his brother in Ottawa?)
Macfarlane went on to say, the Flames are seeking secondary scoring and will target Seattle Kraken forward Jordan Eberle.
The Flames would likely need to give up their first-round draft pick in this year’s draft to complete an Eberle trade.
What makes trading for Eberle difficult is that he isn’t a rental—he has two more seasons after this one with a salary cap hit of $5.5M.
Eberle does own a 16 team no-trade clause but most believe he would accept a trade to the Flames.
If they decide to go big for a Stanley Cup run, other players they could potentially target is Claude Giroux or Tomas Hertl.
I thought this was a reputable site until I saw this nonsense about Tkachuk.
Hire some writers who don’t just make things up and repeat the crap writers for other teams made up.
