NHL trade rumors are starting to go around that Matthew Tkachuk may want out of Calgary and become a St. Louis Blue.
Former NHL defenseman and current Sportsnet 650 radio analyst Shane O’Brien recently stated on Sirius XM NHL radio that he has heard about a potential trade of Tkachuk for Vladimir Tarasenko.
O’Brien stated, “I think [Tarasenko’s] time’s up,” O’Brien said. “I got a little rumour, I guess here [Kouleas] and for Dwayne. I got Tarasenko going to Calgary for Tkachuk. I heard Tkachuk wants out of Calgary, Tarasenko’s time’s up there, I think that’s a trade that could happen.”
O’Brien went on to say that he thinks Tkachuk wants out and needs a change and would like to play for his home town team in St. Louis.
For the Blues to land Tkachuk, it would take more than just Tarasenko.
NHL Rumors earlier in the year had the New York Rangers interested in Tkachuk. The Rangers will have to give up one of their blue-chip assets like Kaapo Kakko or K’Andre Miller for a Tkachuk trade to happen.
