With the New York Rangers clearing out upper management and the entire coaching staff, new President and General Manager Chris Drury will be looking to make some player changes this off-season.
Larry Brooks is reporting that the Rangers should target Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk this off-season via a trade. The Flames will likely ask for Alexis Lafreniere but he is likely untouchable.
Brooks went on to say, the Rangers are going to have to trade someone they don’t want to sacrifice in order to get a transformational top-six player. It is likely the Rangers will have to depart with Kaapo Kakko or K’Andre Miller and that is a big IF the Flames want to trade Tkachuk.
If a trade is to happen, the Rangers will have to depart with a blue-chip asset and not top prospects or draft picks. The Rangers desperately need a power forward and Tkachuk is tops on their shopping list.
