The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching. Monday is the big day and every single NHL team will currently be trying to make the right trades.
One of those teams is the Toronto Maple Leafs. They’re not having a bad season so far but if they want to really push to win the Atlantic Conference and make a Stanley Cup run, an extra bit of firepower, defensive support or a goalie could help the cause.
So, who’s a likely trade prospect? Well, the Maple Leafs have a few options right now, and that’s what we’re about to go through.
Whichever way you think the Maple Leafs will make the necessary trades to go for glory this season, those markets are waiting for you right now. A great site to place your bets is with Canadian sportsbook theScore. Click on what is theScore bonus to find out more about this operator.
So, let’s check out some of the Maple Leafs’ options for the NHL trade deadline.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans will be licking their lips in anticipation of bringing in any or all of the following players:
This 23-year-old defenceman is causing quite a stir in the NHL right now. In fact, as many as eight teams are interested in trading for him, according to rumours. These teams include the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings and the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Ducks have been good trade partners throughout the last year or so and that relationship might be set to continue with an exchange for current Ducks left winger Rickard Rakell. The 28-year-old, born in Sweden, has been in good form recently and has caught the attention of the Maple Leafs.
As well as bringing in new players, the Maple Leafs are going to have to decide who they get rid of so that they can make the trades in the first place.
Just now, we mentioned that the Maple Leafs could be looking to bring in Swedish winger Rickard Rakell, and it looks like the player on the way out could be Travis Dermott. It will be interesting to see how that transaction goes down!
According to the latest rumours, Maple Leafs prospect, defenceman Duszak wants out of the club. He doesn’t feel like he’s in favour compared to some of his teammates and wants to go somewhere else where he could be a little more appreciated. This might be the last we see of him in Toronto.
With only a few days left before the deadline, things are getting intense. The decisions the team bosses make over the next week or so really could make or break the rest of the season for the Maple Leafs.
By the way, it’s not just forwards or defence the Maple Leafs will be looking for right now. Earlier, we asked if they need to make a goalie trade, and we’re yet to find out the answer to that question… we certainly will soon, though!
