TSN: Pierre LeBrun reports that Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin does not have any intention of trading defenseman P.K. Subban. Montreal forward Lars Eller has been available for quite some time, though Bergevin isn’t shopping him or trying to push Eller out the door.

Kings and Shark seek top-5 defenceman

TSN: Darren Dreger reports the San Jose Sharks and LA Kings seek a top-five defenseman, with the Sharks pushing hard on this. Dreger suggests Toronto Maple Leafs Roman Polak or Vancouver Canucks Dan Hamhuis, though the Canucks haven’t approached Hamhuis about waiving his no-trade clause.

Oilers seek top defenceman could trade 1st round pick

ESPN: Pierre LeBrun spoke with a hockey executive who suggests it wouldn’t be surprising if the Edmonton Oilers shop their first-round pick for a top defenseman. If the Oilers win the draft lottery again, it is possible they offer that pick to the Arizona Coyotes for defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson? The Coyotes could then use that pick to select Arizona native Auston Matthews.
