New York Post: Larry Brooks expects New York Rangers GM Jeff Gorton to pursue Eric Staal by the NHL trade deadline. Brooks believes Staal is the only player in the trade market worth sacrificing a first-round pick for. The Hurricanes would have to pick up some of Staal’s contract for any trade to happen.

Chicago Sun-Times: Mark Lazerus believes the Chicago Blackhawks will target a top-6 forward but only seek afforable options like former Blackhawk and current Carolina Hurricane Kris Versteeg or P-A Parenteau of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Lazerus believes the Hawks will have to pass on Jets forward Andrew Ladd and Jiri Hudler of the Flames.
