The Toronto Maple Leafs need to add some grit to their lineup. Will the Leafs target San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane?

There have been a variety of NHL trade rumors going around since the Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated from the NHL playoffs. NHL Rumors have been Mitch Marner for Jack Eichel, Will the Leafs go after Seth Jones?

The latest NHL rumor comes from the Ottawa Sun’s Joel Colomby who states if Zach Hyman takes a hometown discount and stays with the Leafs, but Nick Foligno goes back to Columbus and re-signs with the Blue Jackets, the team will need to bring in some grit.

Colomby brings up the possibility of the Leafs targeting San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane. Kane does have a big cap hit of $7 million/year, but if the Sharks could retain some salary, Kane could be an option. Kane also does have a no-trade-clause and has a three team list he can be traded to.

The Leafs do need to add some grit to the lineup but Kane is likely too expensive and he does have baggage to go along with a bankruptcy issue.
