NHL trade rumors are circulating that the Toronto Maple Leafs could look at making a Max Domi trade. Domi could be a fantastic addition for the playoff bound Leafs and slot in to play on the second line with John Tavares and William Nylander.
NHL analyst Mike Johnson was on TSN 1050 radio and stated Max Domi would fit in well with the Leafs as he adds grit and can score but his hesitation on a Domi trade was his defensive capabilities are not good.
Johnson felt the Leafs are better off trading for defensive help for a playoff run. Toronto can already score but the defensive play is what will hurt them.
Domi, 27, is a pending unrestricted free agent and does have a hefty salary of $6,000,000 and his cap hit is $5,300,000 for the 2021-22 season. If a Domi trade is to happen, the Columbus Blue Jackets will likely have to eat some of his salary whether he is traded to the Leafs or another team.
