In today’s NHL rumors roundup we circle back to the Marc-Andre Fleury trade rumors. After the awful start the Chicago Blackhawks had to start the season, rumors were floating around that the Edmonton Oilers would make a trade for Fleury.
Eric Duhatschek of The Athletic reports if a Fleury trade is to happen, it will likely happen at the NHL trade deadline in March and it will all depend on if Fleury wants another shot to win a Stanley Cup. If not he will finish the season in Chicago.
Duhatschek went on to say, if Fleury has the hunger to win another cup, he will accept a trade to a Stanley Cup contender. The big question is, if the Oilers are not legit cup contenders, as they are interested in a Fleury trade, another team that will inquire about his services are the Colorado Avalanche.
Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper is having an up-and-down season and the Avalanche just might make a Fleury trade for an all-in run at the Stanley Cup.
Fleury, 37, has a salary cap hit of $7 million and owns a 10-team no-trade clause, but if the Avs are interested, you have to think Fleury will waive his clause to play for Colorado.
