After the horrid start the Blackhawks had to start the NHL season, NHL rumors were suggesting that Fleury could be traded to the Edmonton Oilers. It is still believed that the Oilers would be the leading destination as we get closer to the NHL trade deadline.
Scott Powers of The Athletic reports there have been no contracts talks with Fleury to re-sign him and Fleury is the best trade chip the Blackhawks have to bring back prospects and draft picks.
Powers went on to say, interim general manager Kyle Davidson has no restrictions from ownership and can make any trade that will help improve the club in the long-term.
It is most likely Fleury is traded as some point this season. He does have a 10 team no-trade list and if the Oilers are not on that list, that will be Fleury’s most likely destination.
