With Petr Mrazek expected to come off injured reserve soon, the Leafs will have to free up cap space and they are looking to trade Justin Holl.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have gotten themselves into an interesting situation. With goalie Petr Mrazek inching closer to a return to the lineup, the Leafs will have to clear salary cap space.

Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff reports in order to activate Mrazek off LTIR, the Leafs have options and they are to waive Wayne Simmonds or trade Nick Ritchie. (Not likely to happen)

Seravalli went on to say with Timothy Liljegren playing so well, that has made Travis Dermott and Justin Holl expendable. Holl appears to be the player that is getting the most interest from other teams and the player most likely to be moved to free up cap space.

Holl, 29, has one more season at $2 million AAV and he does own a modified no-trade list where he can submit 10 teams he does not want to be traded to.

Update: With the announcement that Mitch Marner will be out 3-4 weeks, the Leafs will not be in a hurry to trade Holl as they will have the salary cap space to bring Mrazek off injured reserve.
