The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to trade a defenceman. Are the New York Islanders interested in making a trade for Travis Dermott?

Last week NHL trade rumors surfaced that the Toronto Maple Leafs were looking to trade Travis Dermott or Justin Holl.

Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello is looking to bolster his blueline and could target the Leafs Dermott as Dermott’s cap hit works for the Islanders.

Staple went on to say, Dermott is a serviceable left-handed defenceman who could eat up 10-12 minutes a night.

There has been no word on what the asking price is for Dermott. He is on the trade block and it is likely he could be traded before the Christmas break. The only way Dermott stays with the Leafs is if the Leafs receive an offer they can’t refuse for Justin Holl.
