A few months back, NHL trade rumors were circulating that Jason Robertson could receive an offer sheet. That scenario is unlikely with most teams maxed out on their salary cap.
There are only three teams that could send an offer sheet to Robertson and that is the Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks and Arizona Coyotes. Those teams are unlikely to put up an offer sheet, so that leads us to the next question on Robertson, will he be traded?
Will the Dallas Stars trade Jason Robertson?
The Dallas Stars have approximately $8 million in cap space left to sign Jason Robertson and reports indicate the Stars would like to sign their young star to a bridge deal.
Robertson would like a long-term deal and the Stars are not willing to bit on an eight-year deal.
Elliotte Friedman was on his 32 Thoughts Podcast and stated contract negotiations have entered the frustration stage between both parties.
Friedman went on to say, it doesn’t sound like they are very far away, people feel it’s too close for it not to be done already.
If there is a stalemate between Robertson and Stars management and no deal is signed by November, you have to think the Stars will explore a trade and see what type of assets they can bring back to improve the team.
