Picture of Auston Matthews. Will he re-sign in Toronto or be traded?
Will Auston Matthews re-sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs or is the a shakeup coming in Toronto with the core four?

Auston Matthews still has one more year left on his contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but Toronto can re-sign Matthews to a long-term deal starting on July 1, 2023.

The big question everyone is starting to ask is, will Auston Matthews re-sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs? Will the Leafs look at a Auston Matthews trade? Or does he want to play for a much quieter destination like Arizona?

Auston Matthews contract in Toronto?

Will Auston Matthews be back in Toronto or will he seek his riches somewhere else? If the Leafs cannot sign Matthews to a long-term deal this summer, he will be traded.

The Leafs will not risk losing a superstar for nothing when free agency hits for Matthews in the Summer of 2024.

The Leafs need a shakeup and clearly the core four of Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares and William Nylander is not working out. A change needs to happen and Matthews could be the player that is on the outs.

He is a superstar but many fans are questioning his desire. Does he really want it? Will he sacrifice his body, do what it takes to win? The Leafs superstars lack the drive and it has been proven the past 6 years and a change needs to happen.

What are Leaf fans saying about an Auston Matthews contract?

As usual Auston Matthews does not show up when he is needed most, if I were Leaf management I would definitely be looking at what benefit Matthews brings when he is needed most, maybe time for a shake up in TO.

Skill vs Will……. Players that rely on skill alone don’t have the sandpaper in their game needed in the playoffs. Look how long it took Ovechkin to win the Stanley Cup. Matthews will re-sign in Toronto.

Sign and trade Matthews he’s only a regular season player and not tuff enough for playoff hockey and that goes for the other core 3, get players that have heart and grit.

  1. Trade him. We need a change. This team has gone no where in 6 years. Keep Marner and build around him.
