The Minnesota Wild are in NHL salary cap hell for the next two years with a $14 million cap hit against the team for the buyouts of Ryan Suter and Zach Parise.
The Wild have just over $8 million in cap space to fill 7 roster spots with one unrestricted free agent being Matt Dumba.
Matt Dumba likely playing for another team next season
Elliotte Friedman was on his 32 Thoughts Podcast and stated that Minnesota Wild defenceman Matt Dumba will test the free market.
Friedman went on to say in his podcast that the Wild cannot re-sign him right now but the Wild will not close the door on him. They will try to find a way to free up the cap space needed before July 1, 2023 when free agency opens.
Wild management have a ton of respect for Dumba, he’s a very popular teammate and member of the organization.
