Taylor Hall would like to be traded to a contender. Will the Toronto Maple Leafs make a trade for him? Can they make his cap hit work?

NHL Trade Rumors are going around that Taylor Hall would be open to a trade. He does have a full no-move clause but has said he would be willing to be traded to a contender.

NHL Analysts like Elliotte Friedman have stated that the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to trade for a top-6 winger and Hall would fit great playing with John Tavares and William Nylander.

For a trade to happen, the Buffalo Sabres would have to retain 50% of Hall’s salary and the Leafs would have to move salary out to fit Hall under the Maple Leafs salary cap.

It is believed that the Leafs will trade for a top 6 forward to take a serious run at the Stanley Cup. The question is, will they target Taylor Hall, can they make the money work?

A Leaf trade will likely happen a few weeks before the April 12 NHL trade deadline and it will be interesting to see who the Leafs bring in and who they ship out for a trade to happen.

  1. Leaf’s don’t need a Taylor Hall. He comes with a very high price tag and is another under-achiever. The Leaf’s would have to move out some salary even if Buffalo pays 50% of his salary. He would only be a rental as he is a free agent next season. Hall only has two goals in 24 games this year. He does have 16 assists. That is not good enough for a player earning 8 million dollars. Consistency and Grit is what the Leafs need most. Taylor Hall does not fill the bill in either category. KD needs to keep looking.
