The Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking for some offensive help since a rash of injuries hit the team.
Sam Bennett’s agent has let the Calgary Flames management know that his client would like a change and could that change be to the Toronto Maple Leafs?
NHL Trade rumors have Flames GM Brad Treliving not in a rush to move Bennett, who was drafted fourth-overall by the Flames in 2014, but there are a number of teams believed to have interest in the 24-year-old.
The Fourth Period reports Calgary is believed to have expressed interest in Leafs defenceman Travis Dermott in the off-season. Dermott, though a left shot, plays both the right and left side of the blueline.
A Dermott for Bennett swap could happen, but the Leafs would have to find a way to fit Bennett’s $2.55 million cap hit.
Other teams interested in Bennett appear to be the Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes and Minnesota Wild.
