Flames, Ducks, Kings, Red Wings interested in Rangers Tony DeAngelo. The question is, will teams take on his $4.8 million contract?

Since New York Rangers GM Jeff Gorton had announced earlier this week that Tony DeAngelo had played his last game for the Rangers, NHL trade rumors have been going around on where he could end up?

Bob McKenzie is reporting that four teams are interested in DeAngelo and those teams are the Calgary Flames, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks.

The issue in trading for DeAngelo is his contract. He currently makes $4.8 million per season. He recorded 15 goals and 53 points in 68 games with the Rangers in 2019-20 but has just one assist in six games this year.

If the New York Rangers are unable to trade DeAngelo this season, McKenzie states the Rangers will buy out the remainder of his contract.

New York will not retain a huge portion of DeAngelo’s $4.8 million annual average value nor are they willing to take on a huge contract coming back the other way. This makes a trade very difficult.
