Tony DeAngelo will be traded at some point this week. But which team will trade for him with his $4.8 million cap hit.

TSN’s Darren Dreger was on Insider Trading and was reporting that Tony DeAngelo could have a new team by the end of this week.

Dreger stated, there’s been no shortage of interest in the defenceman since Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton declared Monday that DeAngelo had played his last game for the team.

“Keep an eye on Tony DeAngelo of the New York Rangers. We know that he’s been told to go home and await a trade, and there’s a ton of interest in him all of a sudden,” Dreger said on Insider Trading. “I’m told, according to source, that DeAngelo could be moved within the next few days.”

DeAngelo put up great numbers last year with 15 goals and 38 assists for 53 points in 68 games. He is a puck moving defenceman that can be physical. If he can learn to behave, stay off social media and just concentrate on hockey, he could be a great addition to a team.

DeAngelo does have a $4.8 million cap hit which is tough to move. The New York Rangers will have to either cover half his salary or take a bad contract back for a trade to happen.
