With the NHL preseason starting in a few weeks, the Patrick Kane trade rumors will just not die.
Kane has been in the NHL trade rumors mill all summer long with NHL Analysts guessing on where he could end up?
If Kane ends up on a Stanley Cup contender, a third team will have to get involved in a trade to reduce Kane’s salary cap hit.
Sabres, Red Wings, Maple Leafs interested in Patrick Kane
Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres make the most sense as that is his hometown, he would love to play in Buffalo and if he re-signs there, the Sabres are likely playoff contenders for the 2023-24 season.
The one thing Buffalo has that so few other teams wish they had, is salary cap space. The Sabres also have prospects and draft picks to offer Chicago if any Kane trade arises.
Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings are done rebuilding and want to be a playoff contender. If they could swing a Patrick Kane trade, they would likely end up battling the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Red Wings have cap space, but might have to shed a few million to take on Kane’s full salary cap hit. That can be done pretty easily by GM Steve Yzeman.
A line of Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond and Patrick Kane would look pretty sweet.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Kane trade rumor to the Toronto Maple Leafs will just not die. It has been chatted about all summer long and if a rumor sticks around this long, there must be something to it.
Yes, the Leafs do not have salary cap space, but GM Kyle Dubas can find a way to get a third team involved to reduce Kane’s cap hit to around $2.5 million and move out another player for Kane to play with his good buddy Auston Matthews.
Kane will be traded at some point this season, to whom, that remains to be seen so keep checking back for the latest Patrick Kane rumors.
