Jimmy Howard NHL Rumors February 15, 2019
Will the Calgary Flames make a trade for Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard?

Will the Calgary Flames trade for a goalie?

TSN: Bob McKenzie reports Calgary Flames goaltender David Rittich has not been on top of his game lately so that’s sparked lots of questions about whether the Calgary Flames need to go out before the 2019 NHL trade deadline and make an acquisition.

Do they go get a rental like Jimmy Howard from the Detroit Red Wings? Or do they go to the Los Angeles Kings and try to see if Jonathan Quick might be a longer term solution for the Calgary net?

McKenzie states all options remain on the table and they want to see how Rittich and Mike Smith fare between now and the deadline I think it’s fair to say that the management team in Calgary has a lot more faith in their goaltending right now than a lot of fans and media.

Florida Panthers looking to trade Mike Hoffman

The Fourth Period: Mike Hoffman is indeed available and could be moved by the NHL trade deadline.

Hoffman, 29, has one-year left on his contract after this season and comes with a $5.1875 million salary cap hit. He also owns a 10-team no-trade list.

Hoffman has 25 goals and 20 assists for 45 points in 55 games so far this season. As teams look to improve their offence ahead of the deadline, Hoffman could provide secondary scoring for contenders in need of it – his contractual status will also result in a slightly higher price tag.
