Gabriel Landeskog
Will Gabriel Landeskog be traded?

Colorodo Avalanche will make some trades soon

TSN 1050: Darren Dreger was on the radio and talking about the Colorado Avalanche. After their latest loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dreger feels GM Joe Sakic will make some moves once the NHL trade freeze is over next week. One of Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog or Nathan MacKinnon is likely to be traded. Dreger mentioned a team tried to make a trade for Landeskog at the 2016 NHL entry draft but Sakic did not want to make the trade. New York Islanders GM Garth Snow has interest in Matt Duchene as he is looking for a scoring forward to play with John Tavares.

Will the Toronto Maple Leafs trade James van Reimsdyk?

TSN: Travis Yoast writes that James van Riemsdyk’s six-year contract ends in 2017-18. The Leafs aren’t under the gun to consider the ‘trade him or lose him for nothing’ scenario that haunts most teams with valuable assets as their contract approaches expiry. But, they aren’t far off from that scenario either. The Leafs need another defenceman to play with Morgan Reilly. An off-season trade is the most likely trade scenario for Toronto and the team the Leafs could make a trade with is the Columbus Blue Jackets. Rookie defenceman Zach Werenski is off to a great start, the Blue Jackets also have Seth Jones, Jack Johnson and Ryan Murray on the back-end. The Blue Jackets could depart with Murray and a draft pick for van Reimsdyk which would give the Leafs a solid stay-at-home Dman and the Blue Jackets would get some additional scoring help from van Reimsdyk.
