NHL Trade Rumors are going around with the loss of dman Shea Weber the Montreal Canadiens have interest in signing David Savard.

With the news that Shea Weber will not be playing next year and may not play again, GM Marc Bergevin is now focused on finding a top-four defenceman.

TSN’s Pierre LeBrun was on Insider Trading and is reporting getting a ‘D’ is certainly a top priority for the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs had interest in Rasmus Ristolainen before he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have advised all 31 other teams that they’d be willing to trade early the negotiating rights of David Savard.

LeBrun went on to say, the Habs have interest in pending UFA David Savard as long as the price isn’t exorbitant.

Before Savard was traded at the NHL trade deadline, the LA Kings and Boston Bruins had interest in Savard. He is an excellent stay-at-home defenceman, great at shot-blocking and he is very physical which makes Savard extremely hard to play against.
