Darcy Kuemper and his camp have made it clear to the Arizona Coyotes that he will not be signing an extension in the desert. Kuemper, 31, has 1 year remaining at $4.5 million AAV.

Frank Seravalli from the Daily Faceoff is reporting the ask from Arizona has been a first-round pick, but GM Bill Armstrong will likely be forced to readjust those expectations based on the return for a younger, less expensive Alex Nedeljkovic. The Carolina Hurricanes only received a 3rd round pick plus pending UFA veteran Jonathan Bernier in the trade.

NHL Trade Rumors have the Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken all interested in Kuemper.

It is looking like it will be a busy summer for the Coyotes as Oliver Ekman-Larsson has just been traded and GM Armstrong is still looking at trading Phil Kessel and Christian Dvorak.

The Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes will be in a tight race for the worst team in the league this coming season.
