NHL trade rumors for March 18, 2022 feature the Toronto Maple Leafs interested in a Mark Giordano trade. Plan B is Sharks Jacob Middleton.

The latest Toronto Maple Leafs rumors have the team interested in making a Mark Giordano trade. The Seattle Kraken defenceman has been available for a trade for the past few months but no one wants to pay the price GM Ron Francis wants.

Chris Johnston was on TSN’s Insider Trading and reports the Kraken would like to get a first-round pick back in any trade for Mark Giordano.

What is holding up a Maple Leafs trade is GM Kyle Dubas does not want to give up a 2022 first round pick for a rental. Giordano, 38, will be a unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

If the Leafs cannot make a Girodano trade work, plan B is to trade for San Jose defenceman Jacob Middleton. The Sharks want a second-round pick, plus another pick or a prospect in return for Middleton.
