NHL Rumors have been circulating for a while that the likely trade destination for Claude Giroux would be Colorado. But now it is looking like the Florida Panthers are the team of choice for Giroux.
It was widely speculated that a Giroux trade would not happen until he played his 1000th game for the Philadelphia Flyers, which happens to be tonight.
Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet’s 32 Thoughts and stated that Florida is the likely destination for Giroux. The Panthers are all in and they have the assets and salary cap space to make the trade.
Friedman went on to say, the Flyers have been scouting Panthers prospect Owen Tippett plus a few other top-end prospects in their system. The Panthers do not have a 2022 first round pick to offer in a trade.
A Giroux trade could happen as early as tomorrow. This means Florida will be out of the Jakob Chychrun sweepstakes.
