Tyler Toffoli on the trade block
NHL trade rumors for January 20, 2022 have the Montreal Canadiens looking to trade forward Tyler Toffoli.

We all know the Montreal Canadiens are looking to do a full rebuild and stock pile draft picks and prospects. NHL trade rumors are making the rounds that the Habs will look to trade Tyler Toffoli at the NHL trade deadline.

One interesting metric on the Canadiens is they have the most actual dollars committed to players this season ($95.195 million), ahead of even Tampa Bay or Vegas.

Eric Duhatschek of The Athletic reports one of the first duties new GM Kent Hughes will have is to get Montreal’s payroll under control.

Toffoli could be a casualty of this mandate as the Habs will look to move quality players on long-term deals. The other player that has been mentioned to be on the trade block is Josh Anderson.

Toffoli would be a great trade deadline acquisition for a Stanley Cup contender as he proved his worth in the Habs cup run last post season.

Toffoli in under contract until 2023-24 with a cap hit of $4.25 million and does not own a no-trade clause.
