The Edmonton Oilers are looking to add a bottom pairing dman to a league minimum contract. Options are Michael Stone and Sami Vatanen.

The Edmonton Oilers have had a busy summer with the free agent signings of Zach Hyman, Duncan Keith and Cody Ceci. They have re-signed Darnell Nurse to a long-term deal but they are still looking for a 3rd pairing/7th spot right-shot defenceman.

Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal reports the Oilers need a veteran right-shot Dman, at a league minimum. What is left in the UFA market right now for defeceman is slim pickings.

Leavins went on to say the Oilers could target defenceman Michael Stone or Sami Vatanen. Leavins suggests signing one of the defenceman to a league minimum would be the best case scenario but doubts Vatanen can be signed to a league minimum deal.

The Oilers currently have no salary cap space left, they need to sign RFA Kailer Yamamoto so some additional moves will have to be made to free up cap space.
