With the recent surprise announcement of Columbus Blue Jackets center Mikko Koivu retiring, the Columbus Blue Jackets are looking to trade for a center.
The Fourth Period is reporting Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen has reached out to the Calgary Flames about forward Sam Bennett, who plays both centre and the wing.
NHL Trade Rumors have also have the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks interested in Bennett. Like many other teams in the league, the Blue Jackets cap space is tight, so a contract might have to go back to Calgary for a trade to happen.
Derek Stepan, a center is also available but it is rumored he wants to go back to Arizona to be with his wife where they just welcomed their third child.
