In today’s NHL trade rumors mill, John Klingberg’s name is the one that is being talked about the most. Klingberg rumors started back in November when a rumor was floating around that the Carolina Hurricanes wanted to make a trade for Klingberg.
It is no secret that Klingberg wants out of Dallas and one team that could have interest in a trade is the Montreal Canadiens.
Yvon Pedneault of TVA Sports has stated the Canadiens should trade Jeff Petry for Klingberg. Pedneault feels it is time to move on from Petry and bringing in Klingberg would be a good move by the Habs.
The Habs would likely have to eat some of Petry’s salary because at age 34, he is under contract for three more seasons at a $6.25 million cap hit. Montreal might have to even sweeten the deal more by adding in a prospect or draft pick for a trade to happen.
