With the NHL trade deadline less than 6 weeks away, NHL rumors are picking up on what teams could make a big move for a Stanley Cup run.

Below we will look at three teams that will be willing to give up a top prospect and a first round pick to make an impact trade.

3 teams that will make a big trade at the NHL trade deadline

  1. Boston Bruins: The Bruins have been the top team in the league all season and they are showing no signs of slowing down. With aging stars like Patrice Bergeron, David Krejčí and Brad Marchand, their win now window is this season. The B’s also have pending UFA David Pastrnak due a new HUGE new deal this summer and who knows if he will re-sign with the Bruins?

    NHL Analyst Mike Johnson was on TSN Radio and speculates the Bruins will be the team willing to give up a lot this NHL trade deadline to get a player like Bo Horvat or Vladimir Tarasenko.
  2. New York Rangers: The Blue Shirts have two first round picks in a deep 2023 NHL draft plus a plethora of prospects they could dangle. The Rangers feel they are Stanley Cup contenders and have been linked to J.T. Miller and Patrick Kane.

    Alex Lafreniere or Kaapo Kakko could be part of a trade package if they want to land the big fish at the trade deadline.
  3. Toronto Maple Leafs: The Leafs are in a win now mode. GM Kyle Dubas needs a first round playoff win to keep his job and Toronto will be in tough this year as their likely opponent is another first round showdown with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

    The Maple Leafs have been linked to Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun and Nashville Predators Dman Mattias Ekholm.

    The Leafs may have to dangle prospect Matthew Knies and a 1st round pick to land a top-end defenseman with term on his contract.
