J.T. Miller
NHL trade rumors for August 16, 2022 feature J.T. Miller. Will he re-sign in Vancouver or head out east to New York or Columbus?

J.T. Miller has been in the NHL trade rumors mill for a while. The question everyone has been asking is, will Miller be traded or will he re-sign with the Vancouver Canucks?

The Canucks will have to make a decision soon as there is no way Miller finishes the 2022-23 NHL season with Vancouver without a new contract.

3 Teams that could make a J.T. Miller trade

Columbus Blue Jackets

One trade rumor that has gone around is that J.T. Miller would like to play closer to home. He was born in Ohio and played his minor hockey in the Pittsburgh area. The Penguins have no room after the recent signings of Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.

Columbus would love Miller, but do they have the assets to acquire Miller? The Blue Jackets would also have to find a way to move Gustav Nyquist to fit in Miller’s contract.

New York Islanders

If Nazem Kadri does not sign with the New York Islanders via free agency, rumors have floated about a J.T. Miller trade for Noah Dobson.

It is no secret the Isles are seeking more offence and with Miller putting up 99 points (32g, 67a) last season, he could be a great fit to play along side Mathew Barzal.

New York Rangers

The New York Rangers have been the team most mentioned in the NHL trade rumor world about where J.T. Miller could end up. Reports had a Alexis Lafreniere for Miller trade in the works last season.

Like many other teams in the league, the salary cap may prevent the Rangers from signing Miller to a long-term deal but if they feel they are a 2023 Stanley Cup contender this year, they could pull the trigger on a trade.
