J.T. Miller
NHL trade rumors for July 22, 2022 feature J.T. Miller and wanting to play closer to home. Could the Blue Jackets make a Miller trade?

The J.T. Miller NHL trade rumors mill has been churning since the NHL trade deadline, where it was rumored he would be traded to the New York Rangers but nothing materialized.

Miller is still under contract for another year at a very Canucks salary cap friendly hit of $5,250,000. Vancouver is trying hard to re-sign Miller this offseason to a contract extension but if a contract cannot be ironed out, J.T. Miller will be traded.

I think his preference is to play closer to home in the USA. Players don’t pick where they’re drafted, but players will exercise their rights when they become free agents and flex their muscles to play where they want.

Frank Seravalli, Sportsnet Radio 590

In Servalli’s radio hit above, Miller is from Ohio, with Johnny Gaudreau signing in Columbus, could that be Miller’s destination of choice? The New York Rangers are still all-in for a Miller trade and have the assets to make a trade.

After the New Jersey Devils losing out in the Gaudreau sweepstakes, could they target a Miller trade to help with their playoff hopes for 2023?
