It is looking like the career of forward Jonathan Toews as a Chicago Blackhawk is coming to an end. All signs point to him being traded at the NHL trade deadline.
Toews, 34, is in the final year of his $10.5 million contract and the Blackhawks are chatting to other teams to gauge interest in a Jonathan Toews trade to see if they can move his huge Blackhawks salary cap hit.
Winnipeg and Colorado interested in a Jonathan Toews trade
Elliotte Friedman was on the Jeff Marek Show on Sportnet radio and was discussing possible Jonathan Toews trade scenario’s.
Friedman went on to say in his radio hit that the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche seem to be the two most logical destinations for Jonathan Toews.
The Avalanche or Jets will likely have to find a 3rd team involved to help absorb the salary cap hit. Friedman stated that he has heard from a few General Managers that the asking price in a Toews trade will be a 2nd round or 3rd round draft pick.
