Filip Zadina’s name had been in the NHL trade rumors mill earlier this season, but the feeling was if the Detroit Red Wings were to trade Zadina near or at the NHL trade deadline, they would be selling low.
Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff reports most hockey insiders and teams feel Zadina needs a change of scenery to rejuvenate his career. Zadina is a gifted shooter, but the knock on him is that he’s become more of a perimeter player.
Seravalli went on to say, will GM Steve Yzerman pull the trigger this offseason and trade Zadina or see how he responds to a new head coach next season?
Zadina, 22, was selected 6th overall in the 2018 NHL entry draft. He is a pending restricted free agent and not eligible for arbitration. Zadina is coming off a campaign where he played in 75 games with 10 goals, 14 assists for 24 points.
The Ottawa Senators had interest in a Zadina trade this past season. Could they revisit the Red Wings to see if a trade can be completed?
