Maybe Vitali Kravtsov does not want out of New York. The disgruntled forward has signed a one-year, one-way contract extension with the New York Rangers worth $875,000.

NHL trade rumors floated around earlier this past season that he wanted out of New York and welcomed a trade.

Kravtsov, 22, was the ninth-overall pick in 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

“We’re excited to have him back,” Drury said. “I don’t think we’ve ever wavered from our stance that he’s an all-world talent. Does a lot of things on the ice that a lot of people can’t.

“Good size, his hockey sense is through the roof, as is his skill. So we’re excited to have him back and be a part of the group.”

GM Chris Drury

Only time will tell if this is a sign and trade scenario or the Rangers need Kravtsov and his cheap cap hit as they will be against the salary cap once everyone is signed after the free agent frenzy period.
