The NHL trade rumors mill was churning a month ago when rumors starting popping up that the San Jose Sharks were looking at trading Erik Karlsson.
Reports are now coming out that defenceman Brent Burns would like to be traded for a shot to win the Stanley Cup. Even at 37 years old, he is still a high-end defenceman.
Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Burns wants a Stanley Cup and that will not likely happen in San Jose anytime soon. He does own a three-team trade clause but he may have to expand his list if he wants to be traded to a Playoff contender.
Trading Burns could be tough, as he has three years remaining on his contract with an AVV of $8 million/year. The Sharks will likely not eat any salary in a trade.
Possible destinations could be the Dallas, Nashville, Carolina or Calgary (If Gaudreau decides to sign somewhere else this offseason).
