Will the New York Rangers make a trade for Nazem Kadri this off-season? Is he worth the risk?

With Nazem Kadri being suspended again in the playoffs, NHL Trade Rumors are starting to float around that the Colorado Avalanche will trade Kadri this off-season.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post suggests the New York Rangers should consider trading for Kadri as he is the type of player that the Rangers need.

Brooks went on to say, “Kadri is a nasty, jagged-edged, checking-type center who can score — an average of 24 goals per 82 games over nine full seasons — and is proficient at faceoffs. The organization only has a crying need for that.”

The Rangers need someone like Kadri in their lineup. Because of the suspension history, the cost to make a trade would not be significant and he has a cap hit that is team friendly at $4.5 million/year.

When Kadri does come back from suspension, he could have a great playoff run which could lead to the Avs keeping him. This off-season should be interesting for the Rangers as they also have a BIG interest in Jack Eichel.

  1. Having a C who can win faceoffs, score goals and play with the attitude and nastiness Kadri brings every game would be perfect. I can deal with the fact he goes over the edge every now and then to make this team tougher to play against.
