New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo, 27, has just one year and $2.8 million remaining on his current deal, and with no recent contract talks with GM Garth Snow, Okposo admits he’s been thinking about the prospect of being traded.

Contract talks between GM Garth Snow and Okposo’s agent, Pat Brisson, went nowhere. There have been no new talks on a contract and there still is strong belief around the league that Okposo could be had for the right price, even with the season starting in 3 weeks.

Okposo quote:

“It’s pretty hard not to when you go somewhere and everyone’s asking you whether you’re going to be traded or not.” “It’s part of the business and I’m not naive to that. There’s a lot of moving parts.

Okposo will be looking for a significant raise from his current contract. He will likely be seeking a $6 million/year contract. Snow is on a tight budget and might not be willing to pay that price. The question will be, will GM Snow keep Okposo and risk losing him in free agency or trade him?
