The Toronto Maple Leafs have tough decision for the June 2015 NHL draft. It is sounding more and more as though Dylan Strome will not be available when the Maple Leafs pick fourth. Numerous scouting sources are convinced the Arizona Coyotes, picking third, will select the large centreman from Erie.

Should the Leafs select defenceman Noah Hanifin with their choice or go for the electric winger Mitch Marner? That seems to be the question in play.

Many traditionalists would lean towards Hanifin, the great-skating, 6-foot-3 defenceman from Boston College, who has been compared favourably to Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues.

“The Leafs need a defence going forward,” said a highly regarded scout. “And other than (Morgan) Rielly, who do they have? They need a player like Hanifin.”
