NHL trade rumors are now flying around on where San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier will end up. It is very unlikely he is re-signing with the Sharks.
He is a pending restricted free agent but due a massive qualifying offer of $10 million. If a trade were to happen, it would likely be a sign and trade scenario where a new contract extension is worked out for Meier’s new team.
Buffalo Sabres interested in Timo Meier
Pierre LeBrun was on TSN’s Insider Trading segment and reports the Buffalo Sabres have talked to the San Jose Sharks about forward Timo Meier.
LeBrun went on to say in his piece that even though the Sabres are headed to not being a playoff bound team, they are committed to winning and Meier would be a player the Sabres are willing to part assets with the acquire at the NHL trade deadline.
LeBrun also mentioned the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes as other teams interested in a Timo Meier trade.
