Will the Detroit Red Wings trade Anthony Mantha? A change of scenery could rejuvenate his career.

Anthony Mantha was supposed to be the Detroit Red Wings next big star, but it has not materialized from injuries, playing on a bad team and now he is a healthy scratch for showing a lack of effort.

The Red Wings should look into trading the big forward. Mantha, 26, needs a change of scenery. The Red Wings are not close to be a playoff contender anytime soon. By the time the Red Wings team peaks, Mantha could be nearing the end of his prime.

Matt Larkin of the Hockey News states it could make sense to trade Mantha and listen on offers? There would be a market for him, even in Year 1 of a four-year contract carrying a $5.7-million AAV. The idea of Mantha landing on a competitive team with a more of a pure playmaking center feeding him passes is exciting. He could experience a rapid and dramatic breakout.

Mantha needs a change of scenery to a playoff contender to rejuvenate his career. He has the skill set to put up good offensive numbers. He just needs to be traded to the right team. Could it be the Boston Bruins? Nashville Predators? This will likely be a NHL trade deadline deal and we will have to wait and see?
