The Minnesota Wild are trying hard to get Kirill Kaprisov signed to a long-term deal. NHL trade rumors going around earlier this offseason had him potentially signing with CSKA Moscow of the KHL but those rumors were debunked.
Wild GM Bill Guerin on how negotiations are going, “Pretty slow right now, but nothing I’m really worried about,” Guerin said of contract negotiations, per NHL.com. “There are a lot of other teams with good players not signed yet. So, I’m not sitting here worrying about it every day.”
Guerin really has no reason to worry as Kaprisov, 24, is not eligible to receive an offer sheet from another NHL club.
Guerin would like to have Kaprisov signed before training camp opens. The Wild open their preseason on September 25, the team has just over $12.2 million in cap space remaining for this season. It is believed Minnesota would like to sign Kaprisov to a long-term deal.
