At the 2016 NHL entry draft, the Buffalo Sabres selected Brandon Hagel in the sixth round as the 159th overall pick. Throughout his 4-season career, he has played in 211 games and accumulated 132 points. He has also scored 11 playoff points in 29 games.

Hagel’s new contract features a full no-trade clause from 2026-27 to 2027-28 and a 16-team no-trade clause from 2028-29 to 2031-32.
