The Carolina Hurricanes are working on getting defenseman Brett Pesce signed to a long-term extension on July 1, but NHL rumors have the team and defenseman no way near a deal.
If Hurricanes management feels Pesce’s play is on the decline and can’t get him signed to a team friendly deal, they will trade him.
Sabres, Oilers have contacted the Hurricanes about a Brett Pesce trade
Pierre LeBrun was on TSN’s Insider Trading segment and reports that if Brett Pesce and the Carolina hurricanes can’t agree on a deal he will be traded. The Buffalo Sabres are one team that has already contacted the Canes about Pesce’s availability.
The Sabres are seeking to add another top four defenseman to the team this offseason.
Darren Dreger also chimed in on the Brett Pesce trade rumors and stated the Edmonton Oilers are another team that has interested in the defenseman.
Dreger went on to say in his TV bit that the Oilers would have to create cap space and that would mean trading one or two of Cody Ceci, Warren Foegele & Kailer Yamamoto.
