Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting the Philadelphia Flyers are willing to deal their first-round pick if it brings them a player for the long run.
GM Chuck Fletcher said you “likely end up keeping your first-round pick, but I think this offseason in particular I’m more willing to look at moving it.”
NHL Trade Rumors have been going around the the Flyers are looking to make a trade for a top-pairing defenseman who shoots right-handed, such as Columbus’ Seth Jones.
The Chicago Blackhawks also have a big interest in Jones and as was reported earlier in the year, the Flyers could use their first-round pick to target Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau.
Gaudreau has said it would be “sweet” to some day play for the hometown Flyers. He has one year left on a deal that carries a $6.75 million cap hit.
Philly’s first round pick (#13) would be a good start to a trade for Gaudreau but they’d have to add something else pretty good.
